Home remedy For Pink Eye

Products

There isn't just one home remedy for pink eye that seems to work. Here are a few that folks swear by.

The first remedy for pink eye that someone's grandmother introduced into their home decades ago still seems to save the day for those with pink eye in the family. In fact, the
family doctor later verified that the home remedy should work for pink eye.

Grandma used to mix a solution of boric acid in a glass and wash the affected eye with it. The rest of the family was skeptical and so one granddaughter went to the doctor for her pink eye. Imagine her surprise when the doctor told her to do the very same thing. His treatment was to take aspirin to ease the pain and to apply a hot compress to the pink eye. He then added that she should wash the eye with a solution of boric acid. Grandma was right, and the solution worked on her pink eye.

Someone else said that polysporin eye drops worked well as a home remedy for pink eye. This user said that if someone couldn't stand putting eye drops in their own eye they could instead put a drop on their finger, pull down the lower eye lid and then rub their finger on the eye lid and the drop would go in the eye.

Someone else uses the over the counter cleaning solution for soft contact lenses and swears by it. Interestingly enough, however, this solution contains boric acid, which we've already noted works well as a home remedy for pink eye. They were able to say they used it safely on their toddler and for a case of pink eye that clearly had gotten way out of hand. The child's bad cold has resulted in a great deal of mucus in both eyes that included thick green pus, watery discharge, swelling and lid inflammation. When his mom, a contact lens wearer, heard about the contact lens solution home remedy for his pink eye she cleared his eyes with a warm cloth and dropped the solution into her 22 month old's eyes.

She said the result was nearly immediate and within one hour the discharge disappeared. After two days of repeated use the pink eye was cured with this contact lens solution home remedy.

Another pink eye home remedy that a user claims as a cure is a solution of jasmine flowers and distilled water. A glass jar should be filled almost to the top with the distilled water and then up to 10 jasmine flowers should be added. This should be covered and left overnight. The jasmine flower should be used as the dropper for the distilled water, repeating in each eye until they are soaked with the solution. This should be done for three consecutive days after which this home remedy should have eliminated the pink eye.
