Sunburm Home Remedy

Products

Let's look at several sunburn home remedies.

Aloe vera's green gel is recommended by several folks as a sunburn home remedy, though there are those that also said if the sunburn is severe baby oil works better at taking away the sting.

A medical professional said that many people
have recommended Preparation H as a sunburn home remedy but she contradicted this. She said that the ingredients in the hemorrhoid relief medicine actually makes the sunburn worse and leads the sunburned person to have symptoms similar to prickly heat.

Another experienced user of a sunburn home remedy said that putting mustard on the burn helped soothe the pain and activate the tan.

Another home remedy for first degree sunburns is to take a warm shower, washing with soap the first day of the sunburn. This is supposed to remove dead skin, while the warm water opens up the skin's pores so the skin is able to breathe. Cold water should not be used as the pores will close and the heat will stay in the body. Immediately after this first shower the next step of this sunburn home remedy is to dry off and then apply aloe. Alcohol should not be used because, although it stops the burn, it is very drying to the skin. Cold tea can alleviate constant pain.

Vitamins can be used as a sunburn home remedy as well. Vitamins A & D are a useful combination. A tube of a combination vitamin A & D ointment is the same as a tube of diaper rash ointment and they both work well as a sunburn home remedy. A little bit spread on the burned area is all that is needed. It helps keep the skin moisturized while eliminating peeling.

Someone else recommended Pepto Bismol as a home remedy that works on sunburns. This is supposed to promote tanning as well.

Vinegar has been recommended as something that works as a home remedy for removing the sting of a sunburn, just by applying it to the affected area with a cotton ball. It takes the burn away, though it leaves the patient quite smelly for awhile.
Noxzema works too. This should be rubbed into the affected skin and not washed off. Then a wet and cold washcloth should be applied to the sunburn overnight. The person who suggested this home sunburn remedy said she has never had it fail to remove the sunburn overnight.
Slices of cold fresh cucumber on a sunburn are supposed to remove the pain of sunburn, as is a box of baking soda in a tub of cool bath water. Several cups of pure aloe vera gel can be added as well.

Shaving cream is also a home remedy that helps stop the burning and itching of sunburn as well. All it takes is a liberal spray of Old Spice on the burn to make the pain and then the sunburn go away.
