The Effects of Stress

Products

Stress should not be necessarily seen on a negative way. It is actually a way of our bodies to tell us that there is something wrong. There are different kinds of stress, however, when we experience chronic stress, or the kind which persists in the long-run, we should know how to respond to it.

Stress manifests itself in different ways. There are physical, emotional and psychological effects of stress. The effects of stress on the body should also be observed
according to the time frame that they occur. There are effects of stress that happen immediately and there are those which happen over a long-period of time.

Physical

The immediate effects of stress on the body (on a physical level) are: occurrence of headaches, back and shoulder pains, rapid beating of the heart and breathing patterns, sweaty palms and upset stomach cycles. There are people who break down when their stress levels are too high.

Psychological

The brain, of course, is a vital part of the human body and it is not exempt from the effects of stress. Stress affects the way people think and the way they think of others. People under stress can worry too much about little things that they wouldn't really mind on normal circumstances. People under stress will also have doubts regarding their capabilities to do certain things, even if they have done these things a thousand times before. Stress definitely highlights the pessimism in people and they tend to concentrate on the negative side of all things. They become paranoid, especially when the stress levels become high. Stress also leads someone to act slowly on things that he needs to do. He feels bad about himself and the things around him.

Emotional

The emotional effects of stress cannot be fully delineated its the physical and psychological impacts on humans. People under stress are really irritable and can blow up with very minor disturbances. They feel very sensitive, as if they are hanging on a single last string. You can attest to this, that it is very hard to talk to people who are experiencing a lot of stress.

On a bigger picture, long-term stress can really takes its toll on the human body. The human immune system weakens as stress accumulates over time. Thus, the body is less protective amidst diseases and sickness. The overall appearance of a person who is constantly under stress is also affected. People who are under stress for long periods of time are prone to look older than their age. Stress is a major factor of wear-and-tear with regards to the human body. The risks of having fatal diseases such as heart attack, diabetes and cancer are also enhanced if a person is exposed to lots of stress.

Battling stress is an important part of keeping one's body healthy and sound. The most effective way of battling stress is to learn positive coping mechanisms. Here are some ways of battling stress:

-Let it out

People experience stress because they have experienced or they feel something horrible. The best thing to do when this occurs is to let your feelings out. There's nothing wrong with crying when faced with problems. Another imperative is to talk to someone close to you so that you can have an interactive form of releasing your feelings.

-Listen to music

Music is a great tool for releasing stress. The kind of music that soothes the soul depends on the taste of the person listening to it. Some people would like to listen to rock music while others like to listen to Church music to release their stress.

-Exercise

Pulling a muscle or two can release stress. With every step you take when jogging, with every lift of the weights, with every sweat, a certain portion of stress is released

-Get a hobby

Doing something that you really like to do is a great stress reliever. Find something that you find fun and develop the talent or skill for it.

Fighting the effects of stress is really not as bad as everyone thinks it is. It only takes a little appreciation of the beauty of everything else in the world. It's a matter of positive attitude and doing the right things to achieve peace of mind.
